To start polishing, hold the Jewelry File in your main hand and a gemstone in your off hand, then hold RMB. Jewelry File has 55 durability and loses one durability for each completed polishing stage.
Each stage lasts 20-30 ticks (1-1.5 seconds). When a stage is completed, gemstone has a chance break permanently or get a new quality. Higher quality requires more stages and as a result has a higher break chance.
